2021 NEWCAS Best Paper Award
(Anglais uniquement) NEWCAS has awarded Petar Jokic and his co-authors the ResMIQ Best Student Paper award for their work entitled “Battery-Less Face Recognition at the Extreme Edge.”...
The Circle of Experts in Impedance Spectroscopy (CEIS) has awarded Pietro Iurilli and his co-authors with a Best Paper Award for their work entitled “DRT-based modelling framework for Li-ion cells.”
The Best Paper Awards are selected by the Circle of Experts in Impedance Spectroscopy (CEIS) based on the quality of the abstracts. The awards are presented to the winners at the Annual International Workshop on Impedance Spectroscopy, IWIS.
This year, the CEIS awarded Pietro Iurilli and his coauthors with the best paper award for their work entitled “DRT-based modelling framework for Li-ion cells.” This award was presented at the 14th edition of the IWIS that took place virtually from September 29 to October 1, 2021.
The choice of the CEIS was based on the quality and originality of the work related to using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) in different research fields.
This work presents a novel DRT-based modelling framework for Li-ion cells. A physically-based Electric Circuit Model (ECM) is developed starting from Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and Open Circuit Voltage (OCV) measurements. Distribution of Relaxation Times (DRT) is applied to deconvolve the electrochemical phenomena from the EIS, to configure the ECM, and to extract the model parameters. The proposed framework is applied to large format Li-ion pouch cells. Different current profiles have been tested to validate the model, showing its high accuracy in reproducing the battery cell behavior.
"I’m thrilled to receive this award. It’s an important recognition of our work, and it represents a real milestone towards my PhD and the development of intelligent cell management systems here at CSEM. I would like to extend a special thanks to Prof. Vanessa Wood, ETHZ, for her support and to my colleagues Claudio Brivio and Rafael E. Carrillo for their help and the insightful discussions." Pietro Iurilli, PhD Student, CSEM.
