The “Edge & Cloud Software Development” Group of our “Medtech” Business Unit, based in Bern/Neuchâtel, Switzerland, is looking for an efficient, inspiring and communicative, Senior Firmware Developer.

Your mission

You are a top-quality firmware developer who can work in close collaboration with hardware developers and the rest of the team under the supervision of our technical manager. You are inspired to work in a field that has the potential to make a massive impact on large organizations across the globe. Your mission will be to build secure, robust software for digital health monitoring and medical devices, including IoT applications.

Your responsibilities

  • Design and implement secure, robust software for low-power embedded devices such as smartwatches and other wearable devices, health monitoring solutions, or other medical devices.
  • Organize the technical lead of new products development in the digital heath and MedTech domain.
  • Take ownership of product development, including compliance to ISO 13485 and IEC 62304.
  • Development new firmware including documentation of design and requirements, risk analysis and testing strategies for verification.

Your profile

Know-how

To be successful in this function, you have:

  • Superior level of education (BSc or MSc) in computer science or similar, with solid working experience across different micro-controller platforms and architectures (e.g ARM Cortex M0/M4f/M7 devices).
  • Hands on knowledge of C and C++ language for embedded design and object-oriented architecture, including UML notation.
  • Experience in ultra-low power embedded systems development and a track record in working with a variety of communication and control protocols (e.g SPI, I2C, I2S, USB) as well as wireless communication stacks such as BLE. Ability to work with various network protocols including MQTT, TCP/IP etc.
  • Previous experience in real-time systems (RTOS) is needed, and experience with low power RF systems would be a plus (e.g. BLE).
  • Quality-oriented and with experience working in normed environments such as ISO 13485 / IEC 62304 for medical device software development.
  • Experience with medical regulatory submissions is a plus.
  • Experience with marketed product development is a plus.
  • Experience with test automation and testing frameworks is a plus.
  • You are fluent speaker in English. French and/or German would be a plus.
  • Moreover, our teams work with IoT solutions, Python, Android apps, C#, AWS solutions, …. Any added experience is also welcome.
