The “Battery Systems” group of our “Sustainable Energy” Business Unit based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, is currently looking for a Battery Hardware Engineer. 

Fixed term contract of 2 years

Your mission

CSEM develops a ground-breaking BMS platform, that exploits electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) for battery management. Your mission is to support our hardware development team with the realization of FW (70%) and HW (30%) for our patented zBMS technology.

We are looking for an electronics engineer with background and hands-on experience in the design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of embedded electronics. The purpose of this new position is to accelerate the prototyping of our battery management electronics and to proactively contribute to improving it, especially the signal acquisition and data communication capabilities of our architecture. You will also closely collaborate with the SW, algorithm and testing teams to guarantee fully functional and verified prototypes.

 

Your responsabilities 

  • Design, implementation and test of FW running of the selected BMS processors including data acquisition, process scheduling, data communication as well as implementation of signal processing algorithms.
  • Design of electronic circuits using schematic capture software and the design of new PCB layouts.
  • Report the your achievements and results in a clear and concise manner, both internally and externally.
  • Support for prototyping process including ordering, manufacturing and commissioning of PCBs.
  • Support for other short-term industrial projects as required, e.g. project mounting or specific implementations.
  • Proactively propose innovative solutions to enhance operations in domain of activity.

 

Your profile

Know-how

  • MSc in Electronics or Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of practical experience.
  • Experience in embedded software programming (C programming, RTOS, communication protocols).
  • Experience in PCB design (based on Altium or similar tools), prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, soldering iron, etc.
  • Knowledge of Lithium-ion battery technologies, know-how of EIS and other diagnosis techniques being a plus.
  • Track record in battery technology development at industrial level being a plus.
  • Professional proficiency in English (oral and written).
